Meet Andrea Antoniou, an 18-year-old girl from Cyprus, living her best life, turning what is considered an issue into her strength. Andrea is living with vitiligo since the age of 7. For a child that young, having a
characteristic that made her stand out from the crowd accompanied with bullying, was understandably difficult to handle. She recalls, “I had many experiences of bullying at the beginning. This used to make
me sad, not for myself, but for others”.
Thankfully, she had the love and support of her friends and family,
which was fundamental for her rapid realization that she is beautiful the way she is, transcending a bad experience into a positive one. Andrea communicates the sense of individuality and she is an inspiration for everyone around her to love themselves the way they are. What makes you stand out from the crowd is the means to self-acceptance and your unique trademark. “After a journey of self-discovery and self-acceptance, I came to the realization that I should be grateful for what I have. One day, it will change my life forever. Now, I feel grateful and lucky to have vitiligo. It makes me feel special”, Andrea explains. “Feel proud and blessed to have vitiligo. It makes you special. And also, I have a secret to share. Every time you look at your spots, you must think that every patch is a dose of magic and a blessing that God has given you. We are beautiful”.
